  6.
  7.                                IS THERE A GOD ?
  8.

  14.
  15.
  16.         Once upon a time there was a
  17. mathematician who found an equation for
  18. GOD.  It was, of course, a very
  19. complicated equation but, she figured,
  20. all she had to do was find a computer
  21. system which (1) had a large enough
  22. memory to store all the necessary
  23. variables and (2) was fast enough to
  24. gather all the information together.
  25. Once this was accomplished, all the
  26. mysteries of the Universe could be
  27. solved...
  28.                              ...So the government took every available
  29.                              micro-processor, linker, loader,
  30.                              assembler and anything else they had
  31.                              available, put them all together, and
  32.                              then asked the computer:
  33.
  34.                        "IS THERE A GOD?"
  35.
  36.         Unfortunately, however, the
  37. computer's response was that it would
  38. take, at the very least, a century or
  39. two to solve the problem...
  40.
  41.                              ...This wasn't good enough for the
  42.                              bureaucrats in Washington, who for the
  43.                              first time in their life desired something
  44.                              other than that status quo, so they
  45.                              decided to follow that up by taking every
  46.                              single computer in the *entire nation*
  47.                              and linking them all together into one
  48.                              giant, ever-so-much-bigger, super-
  49.                              powerful-computer and asked, once again,
  50.
  51.                        "I S   T H E R E   A   G O D?"
  52.
  53.         Well, this time the computer
  54. said that it would take only ten years
  55. to solve the equation.  Not as bad, but
  56. still not quick enough to satisfy all
  57. the eager philosophers and scientists.
  58. "Something more must be done!" they
  59. would shout...
  60.
  61.                              ...By this time the whole world was
  62.                              beginning to pay some attention and
  63.                              everyone wanted to get involved.
  64.                              Everyone argued about which country could
  65.                              claim credit and to settle all the basic
  66.                              disputes, they drafted a joint resolution
  67.                              to build the computer and discover the
  68.                              amount of truth in the assertation that
  69.                              there is a God.
  70.
  71.         So --  they took every computer
  72. system in the world and linked them all
  73. together into one single amazing
  74. super computer, the likes of which had
  75. NEVER, EVER, been seen before, and once
  76. again asked:
  77.
  78.                          "I
  79.                            S
  80.
  81.                             T
  82.                              H
  83.                               E
  84.                                R
  85.                                 E
  86.
  87.                                   A
  88.
  89.                                     G
  90.                                      O
  91.                                       D?"
  92.
  93.                   And the computer's response was...
  94.
  95.                          "T H E R E
  96.
  97.                                 I S
  98.
  99.                                    N O W."
